Check out my previous hikes here. #1291844

This week, we head to the Riverside Trail located in the Whistler Interpretive Forest. As suggested by its name, the Riverside Trail follows the Cheakamus River, from its trailhead near the Cheakamus Lake Road, goes south past MacLaurin's Crossing, and ends at the trailhead of Logger's Lake Trail. When we visited, we followed the full trail to Logger's Lake. Logger's Lake is a small and peaceful lake with very calm waters. As a result, the lake acts like a mirror and gives a beautiful reflection of the surrounding landscape. After visiting Logger's Lake, we went back the same trail to cross the suspension bridge at MacLaurin's Crossing. There was a big info board on the Farside that talks about the man behind the name of this crossing and its bridge, Don MacLaurin. After crossing the suspension bridge, we made our way back north towards the trailhead using the Farside Trail. If I remember correctly, Whistler was slightly affected by smoke from forest fires during our hike. That is why so some of the photos may seem of have hazy skies.

Cheakamus River can be seen even before reaching the trail.

Trailhead.

Riverside Trail follows the Cheakamus River while weaving through the forest.

Powerful and rapid flow of the Cheakamus River.

Little one walking on a section of boardwalk.

Wooden bridge over a section without good footing on the trail.

MacLaurin's Crossing. Taking this suspension bridge brings you to the over side of the river and also the Farside Trail.

We continued on the Riverside Trail and eventually reached the Logger's Lake Trail. Little one hiked this one all on his own, and I was pretty proud. He was 4 at the time. I brought the carrier just in case, but did not have to use it.

Logger's Lake with its calm waters and perfect reflections.

Another view of Logger's Lake.

The skies looked a bit hazy due to smoke from far away forest fires.

We went back to MacLaurin's Crossing and crossed the suspension bridge. This photo was taken on the bridge looking up the river.

A more wide angle shot looking up river on the suspension bridge.

The bridge is quite narrow, but wide enough for hikers and mountain bikers.

Info board talking about Don MacLaurin, the man that help built numerous trails around Whistler, including this suspension bridge.

The suspension bridge at MacLarin's Crossing viewed from the Farside Trail.

Both Riverside Trail and Farside Trail are mixed use trails used by hikers and mountain bikers. We saw a biker ride past us on the Farside Trail.

The sun is partially blocked the the forest fire smoke.

Stats of our hike.
