I was on a packaging call a few weeks ago to see what was involved in updating the Pub docker for the next version... seems their next release is pretty close... v35 to v4x
Matt said 35 can be considered deprecated, but the v40 is alpha... and they didn't have LND bundled yet for it which precluded me doing much since Pub depends on it. No v40 docs yet nor is it clear what the scope of the changes are or achieve.
He used Sonnet to update our package which seemed to mostly be around storage volumes based, he instructed Sonnet to base it on other packages they already updated.
I'm probably not going to revisit the packaging for awhile, will update the sideloadable package for v35 when we finish the wizard. Hopefully by then v40 will be better documented.
I always hated that they were Tor by default and so invested in it, terrible solution. A VPN or Wireguard configuration option would be the obvious alternative for people concerned with clearnet.
Pub on it does seem to punch out on clearnet to Nostr relays just fine though.
