Social media does terrible things to the brain and society and I won't be rewarding the dopamine driven behavior there. I upvote a lot here but it's rewarding the highest signal and helping it reach others, not the bullish empty hype statements someone half assed together.
Absolutely agree. In fact it's not just FB, Twitter, dying, but the overall trend of people realizing that addictions to social media are simply not good. It's like smoking, which used to be advocated by doctors. The golden (or better yet, dark) age of social media where everyone wanted to check it every single time is probably not coming back.
I was very happy learning about nostr from the perspective of sending private messages and having a private relay (note: in some countries the messaging apps that we think always work, simply don't work or suddenly stop working for a few hours. Not good)
Now that the main focus is social media, I'm no longer that interested.
