They say "it's who you know." They say "connections matter more than character." They say "that's just how the world works."
But what if the world worked differently? What if we reviewed companies the way God reviews hearts?
What God Looks At vs. What Companies Look At
God looks at the heart. Companies look at the resume.
God looks at character. Companies look at connections.
God looks at integrity. Companies look at influence.
God looks at humility. Companies look at hustle.
God looks at how you treat the least. Companies look at how much profit you bring.
God looks at what's done in secret. Companies look at what's shown in public.
God looks at who you are. Companies look at who you know.
If companies were judged by God's standards, they'd fail. Every single one.
What Would Happen
Exploiting workers? Guilty.
Paying poverty wages? Guilty.
Protecting abusers? Guilty.
Discriminating in hiring? Guilty.
Polluting for profit? Guilty.
Lying to customers? Guilty.
Putting profit over people? Guilty.
Playing favorites? Guilty.
They'd all be out of business. Not because they're evil. Because they're human systems. And human systems don't meet God's standards.
What the Bible Says
"The Lord does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart." — 1 Samuel 16:7
Outward appearance is resume, connections, network. Heart is character, integrity, who you really are.
They look at one. God looks at the other. They'd never pass His review.
"Woe to those who make unjust laws, to those who issue oppressive decrees, to deprive the poor of their rights and withhold justice from the oppressed of my people." — Isaiah 10:1-2
Unjust laws. Oppressive decrees. Depriving the poor. Withholding justice.
That's not just ancient kings. That's modern corporations. That's the system. That's who they're defending.
What "It's Who You Know" Really Means
"It's who you know" means character doesn't matter. Integrity is optional. Connections are everything. Play the game or lose. The right friends get you in. The wrong name keeps you out.
That's not wisdom. That's corruption. That's the opposite of how God works.
What God's System Looks Like
In God's system, the last are first. The humble are lifted. The meek inherit. The poor in spirit are blessed. The pure in heart see God. The merciful get mercy. The peacemakers are called children of God.
No connections required. No networking necessary. Just character. Just heart. Just you.
So Let Them Play Their Game
Let them hire who they know. Let them promote who they like. Let them build their little kingdoms on connections.
You keep building on character. You keep investing in integrity. You keep becoming who you are.
One day, their systems will crumble. One day, their connections won't matter. One day, the only thing left will be who you really were.
And you'll be standing.
