Been binge-listening to Bitcoin podcasts lately. Not for price predictions, but for the "why".

Three things kept coming up across different episodes (from guys like @aantonop, @stephanlivera, etc.) that really shifted my perspective on self-custody:

  1. Not Your Keys, Not Your Coins isn't FUD.
It's math. Leaving BTC on an exchange is like leaving gold at a stranger's house and hoping they keep the door locked. History shows doors get unlocked.
  2. Privacy is a Feature, Not a Bug.
Learned that coin control matters. Mixing fresh coins with old ones can leak your financial history. Small steps like using new addresses every time matter more than I thought.
  3. Security Doesn't Need to Be Paralyzing.
I used to think I needed a $200 hardware wallet to start. Turns out, even a simple mobile wallet with a properly backed-up seed phrase is lightyears ahead of an exchange. Start small, upgrade later.

My takeaway? Don't wait until you have "enough" Bitcoin to care about security. Secure what you have, no matter how small.

Curious: What was the one podcast episode or concept that finally convinced you to take self-custody seriously?

Stay safe. 🫡
