I was (naively) of the same opinion at the time and again during the 2014 collapse.

While I was buying and trading MtGoxBTC for (many) pennies on the dollar on BitcoinBuilder, I learned some weeks later that Tux had quickly reached a point where he mentally checked out from it all -- sitting in his hammock, knitting something for his cat, and doing little more than nodding in response to questions from bitcoin exchange industry veterans who flew to Japan to try to assist.

Haha! In all fairness this was 2013, one year an a bit before the incident :P
