Self-hosting is supposed to be all about control; however, all too often it becomes more about the process of setting up hardware and software, and less about what you do with it. Every service that I've deployed on my NAS has been another moving element requiring adding new ports, or setting up reverse proxy rules, or maybe even a storage path to be remembered. It all works when you've set it up right, but it's the setup that takes forever. And one wrong edit, things go south real quick.
