The awful part of Bitcoin culture is watching people swear they’re defending the protocol by refusing to actually use it. They chant “hodl” as if hoarding were some sacred duty, but then act surprised when they needed to actually spend bitcoins on paying for goods/service. They imagine they’re preserving purity, but what they’re really doing is becoming the very enemies of Bitcoin. It’s like celebrating how pristine a highway looks when nobody drives on it, or how delicious a food is when nobody eats it.

Holding is using but at some greater scale you are right. Toxicity is the fear of Bitcoin getting replaced by some Analos via market driven incentives and the way to guard market by some church / cult like monopolistic mechanics. And boy it hurts.
