If you hop in a Waymo, you might think its just you and a robot AI that's driving the car. Turns out, there's also another guy helping to drive the "autonomous" vehicle, and that guy could be 8,000 miles away in the Philippines (or other foreign nations).
The revelation came up when Senator Ed Markey grilled Waymo's Chief Security Officer Dr. Mauricio Peña in a Senate hearing:

This is so funny. Were we being scammed the whole time? Is Waymo not a tech company but just wage arbitrage? Maybe the autonomous part is just fancy cruise control, but a human remote operator is still driving the tricky bits.

The whole thing is creepy on its own and it just got even worse since a Filipino on the other side of the planet is controlling and most likely seeing and hearing everything inside the car.

This is the only way heavy trucks can be operated on 'the last mile'

Freeways are easy to programme

Try a New York Central block at rush hour with maintenance crews digging up the sidewalk and an accident on the street

At least the truckers will be able to finally work from home 🤣🤣
