They have a YouTube channel and they belong to a couple Mining groups on Telegram

I decided not to because of the capital expense

You should check out Rigly or Braiins for buying and leasing hashrate, i.e. mining without buying any equipment

Rough story. I'm sorry to hear they turned out to be scammers. At this point, I have to admit it seems like 

 hosted mining setup is just not worth it. At best profits are eaten away by costs and fees. At worst it's just a scam.
