Man oh man has the tune changed when it comes to Colombian President Petro. It was only a couple of months ago he was on the streets of New York encouraging National Guardsman to ignore orders from the President. Towards the end of last year Colombia/US relations had definitely hit a new low for the 2000s but thankfully there has been a reset by both sides.

It would be interesting to see who is on the list that President Petro provided. He highlighted individuals located not just in Colombia and the US but also Madrid (Spain) and Dubai (UAE). While I am sure that the US, evidence provided, could get Spain to arrest and extradite criminals to the US I am not sure that would be the case with Dubai if the individuals happen to be citizens.

The UAE has for years now been a known hub for money laundering issues and only last year had updated their laws enough to get off the "Grey List." However, even last year with the Trump Admin in place Dubai was unofficially flagged for its continued use by criminals for both precious metals, crypto, and just plain cash laundering activities.

At the heart of the matter between the two countries is the continued anti narcotics operations between the two countries. Despite all the rhetoric President Petro has stated they have remained strong and highlighted coordination between the two countries and continued given the reports of how much power Mexican Cartels have in Colombia due to the drug trade both Presidents can secure wins if they work together and continue to degrade the capabilities of traffickers.
