Starting October 2025, I began to track some of the items we buy at least a semi-regularly with sats.
The idea is to visualize inflation in sats over time.
This is the 3rd post of the series, documenting how our purchasing power changes for stuff we buy with sats. (Link to part 2, Dec 2025)

We've been spending & replacing for a few years. While we could feel things getting cheaper in sats over time, we didn't actually track and measure it for specific items. This is what these posts are about.
We spend a a few months of each year in South Africa where we can buy heaps of stuff with bitcoin. So I expect to have months without any useful data for the times when we are in places where we don't have options to buy these items with sats.

Units: Electricity in kWh, water in kilo liters, phone data in Gb, fuel and milk in liters.

I was surprised to see we've paid less for water despite the local fiat shitcoins having gained value over bitcoin. Most of the rest feels in line with what I expected.

Electricity inflation seems a tad higher than expected, but not by a country mile.

SummarySummary

I've said it before: I actually enjoy that bitcoin began losing ground vs fiat right around when I started this series. It shows how we can still hit a lot of inflation (as measured in sats) intermittently even when the long-term trend is expected to be deflationary.

Assuming the series makes it past a year, we would then see longer term inflation/deflation numbers. I am looking forward to that.
