Sounds like a great time. Your friend seems nice, but very set in his ways. But it was cool of him to take the trip with you.

Next time, you should also tell him about Hanlon's Razor. Since he like's Occam's Razor so much he might like that one too.

It's interesting that Occam's Razor was taught to y'all by a science teacher, since it was advanced by a theologian, William of Ockham. Occam's Razor is sometimes used to defend a deist view of the world, in that the universe being created by an all-powerful being is a simpler explanation for the world than the complicated theories we posit from physics, though that wasn't William's use of it. (Also ask him what he thinks of the standard model of particle theory---even physicists think it is a shambolic monstrosity of complexity).

Also important to emphasize that the "simplest explanation" isn't the same as "requires the least amount of thinking from me". The second perspective is closer to that of buying the MSM explanation for everything. I can think of some conspiracy theories where the "conspiracy" position is actually simpler, and the MSM position is one that relies on a lot of tortured coincidences.

I had heard of Hanlon's Razor at some point, but I wish I had committed it to memory. He would like it. Next time I'll be ready.
