I don't run any solar panels on my house, nor am I involved in the industry, but I can say we get insane hail here sometimes. Maybe like once a year, there's a day where out of the blue golf-ball to baseball sized hail shows up. It's not usually widespread, so maybe you get lucky and it doesn't fall where you are. But it sure is a possibility.
It doesn't seem to be stopping developers from putting in solar farms.

My friend who lived in Texas said home solar isn't as practical because they get hailstorms sometimes which damages the panels. How big of a problem is that?
