Today I had to pay somebody around 3000 dollars. The bill was denominated in dollars. I had in excess of 3000 dollars. I offered the dollars. The person said they don't take dollars. They insisted I go to the bank and pay the bank 10 dollars to send them a piece of paper called a cashier's check!

You guys reckon I could get my boss to pay me in cashier's checks instead of dollars? These things are sure useful!

Could be a great moment to orange-pill the person

Sounds like you were trying to using cash for an exchange that was not in person.

The cashier's check is meant to protect you in case the money gets "lost" in transit.

That's is what you paid $10 for, idiot.

since i do not foresee dollar bills greater than $100 printed, money orders work quite well in the US and are a decent cash substitute; the limit is $1000 per order, 3 orders max per USPS location;

instructions and other details here:
https://www.usps.com/shop/money-orders.htm

like with any tool, monetary or otherwise, be sure to read at least some of the documentation before using;

USPS workers who deliver mail seem to be some of the healthier people working for the state, since they walk, see the sun, and usually wear gloves while handling mail that carries parasite eggs along with the nanoscale biotech fibers (aka shedding substance);

Pretty ridiculous, indeed. What is wrong with people

A great example of the power of bitcoin: person-to-person payments, no third parties involved, and instant cash, or with three confirmations in 30 minutes.
