Yes, you can get credit for your new comments if others are checking out the post and zapping your comments.
I think overall interest in old posts will be higher if they can generate rewards for the OP and post-zappers though.

Maybe my thinking is naive but if we comment on old posts, couldn’t our chances of getting more rewards under comment zapping be enhanced if we don’t take into account how long ago the original posts were created
