I had three classes of marking today, but I left them all by the wayside because I needed to concentrate my firepower on designing the online package for “I’m a Young Entomologist”.
You don’t know what “entomologist” means? Honestly, me neither (and I work as a distinguished English teacher). Anyway, I had no time to waste as I raced against time to finish the five tasks.
Actually, I should self-congratulate myself because only I could have been resourceful enough to come up with fairly interesting tasks on ants, butterflies and mosquitoes. I weaved in my authentic child-rearing experiences by bringing in mentions of Just Ants and KidsSTOP. So, I completed designing the package in less time than it would have taken most teachers.
Just that there was a gnawing sense of emptiness piercing my all-too-responsible soul. I did nothing to advance the learning of any one of my three classes today because worksheets not marked.
Oh well, there’s always tomorrow.
In such instances, I was gratified that my son was in the same school as me because I managed to educate him that an entomologist studies insects. Yes, transmitting what I have learnt instantly to the younger generation.
