I think what bottom line I tried to do is to be as non-aggressive as I can (on a topic that endlessly pisses me off) but explain why I am not supporting their softfork, because the assertion earlier was "you dislike data and this softfork is the best and only way to fix it".

I think that not fixing it is better than this softfork. But I also think that if we really just want to measure how many bitcoiners/miners support this, then this isn't so painful, and it can be done without massive risk.

You were much more patient than me.

His continual asking of "do you support official data storage on bitcoin" was officially pissing me off.

I'm sure there's a word for that logical fallacy (trying to get someone to admit they agree with you a single point as justification for supporting their proposal, while completely ignoring all the counterpoints). I just can't think of what that word is.
