And lost 4 channels! Ugh

MAH INBOUND 😫😫

Is it on the cloud? How did it go down?

reply

No clue!! This happens at least once a month I try to get a ahead of it by power cycling my node once a month but last night it went down.

I’m super frustrated because I lost like 7M sats worth of inbound liquidity!!!

I think it’s time to wind down my start9 LND node. I am sick and tired of these random freezes

I think with this and the stability of my Umbrel node I can finally have stable reliable fast LN node.

Before I start this transition any advice you can give about this? Is it good or bad?

Did you help others troubleshoot their node with this service?

Yes is good if you really want to continue with a LN node behind Tor.
Tunnelsats is good alternative but IMHO is not enough. Yes, is a good quick solution for user that do not know or want to deal with a proper setup.
If you look into @Hakuna 's github, hhe posted some excellent guide about how to setup a real VPN tunnel with a VPS. Is practically what is doing tunnelsat, but you can extend that VPN for more than just broadcasting your LN node into clearnet.

IMHO stop using at all public LN nodes behind Tor. A wireguard VPN tunnel using an IP from a cheap VPS is very powerful, not just for your node, but you can use it for your entire network devices. With 5 bucks you literally have a private VPN, much better than anything else.

Okay. I need to learn how to do this then. I want to run a public LN node period. I want to build up my node have massive inbound liquidity and sell cheap channels.

This is one of my goals for 2026. Every month I want to add more and more liquidity to the network

Anything that runs debian Linux will work with it. The specs of the URL you shared look good enough. 4Core / 16GB. But if you're really serious, look for raid options. One faulty drive can ruin a long lifespan of a lightning node. This, a UPS and a VPS and some bitcoin for the hot-wallet, of course
