TheCharlatan aka sedited was nominated and selected yesterday via the bitcoin dev weekly IRC meeting.
my bad. the "A bunch of Acks" means he was not only nominated, but also selected?
No problem.
Yea it was general consensus that he will be the next maintainer, to make it official he needs to add his PGP keys to the maintainer list on GitHub.
From what I understand it is up to the current maintainers to add a new maintainer and they were on the IRC meeting or were consulted prior.
But it is technically not official till his keys are added. Similar to an elected official taking the oath.
