Trump is being a realist. Venezuela is hopeless but they stole assets from American oil companies. Plus China and Russia getting too chummy with Venezuela and Panama Canal.
Not all interventions are equal. Geography matters.
Edit: In his first term, Trump's critics called him out for not removing Maduro because he is a puppet of Putin. Now they are criticizing him for 'imperialism' and 'aggression'. I realize this is not your argument.
I never expected different from Trump, which is why I never supported him (although I did prefer him to the Democrat all three times).
I'm just pointing out that when Republicans are trying to get public support they denounce nation building and big government, but when they get into power they intervene widely in both foreign nations and in the US economy.
The Democrats have their own version of this hypocrisy and it's why people hate both parties.
I don't really care what they regret and Chile is not the only Latin American country that the US has overthrown.
You are welcome to like it, but it's not how Trump campaigned and it's being cheered by the Bushes and all the other neocons.
