Not really a hack. An exploit. You don't have to guess real words. @jasonb confirmed that that's working as intended.
Yeah I noticed that. I try to use real words but a couple times I inputted gibberish to see if a letter was where I thought it might be.
Well good on you for finding an exploit.
I will try to beat your record later tonight or tomorrow.
I figured it made for a fun variant, although maybe it does make it too easy if you just spend the first three rounds guessing the most common letters.
I may keep track of how many guesses people take on average to win at some point and include that in the rankings. I had it when the score was kept locally, but it seemed like a headache to do with the database.
Yeah, it made things too easy if my goal was just to win in 7 versus aiming for low score. I would just guess aeiou followed by smrlt followed by chndy
Yeah, I think I have to factor amount of turns into the leaderboard ranking. That should clamp down on that strategy a bit.
The biggest problem with making the guesses all be legal words is the inclusion of international word lists. I was trying to make the whole thing with ai, partly to see if I could, so the word lists started off REALLY dicey. As a result, while I’ve got many thousands of English possibilities, some of them are less than 200, which just wouldn’t be fun at all.
Yeah, the more I think of it, scoring by guess count is imminent. I keep seeing people post their picture of guess history for wordle on nostr, and I feel like that’s a similar appeal to looking at leaderboard in general anyway.
21 in a row?
You are either really good at this.
Have some kind of hack.
Or you got AI help.
Either way you win.
