I couldn’t post at all for the whole of today. I was nonchalant at first because I assumed it was a systemic bug problem.
But a few hours came and went, and I started to see a trickling of posts. Which meant that the problem I was facing might be uniquely mine.
Normally I might have hesitated to ask for help, but I was kinda desperate and itching for a solution, so I clutched my ego and posted about my problem in the Saloon:
@sox advised me to clear my cache.
This was when my nightmare began. As I cleared my history, I chose to close all my tabs, including SN.
I haughtily assumed that I could log in easily again but nooooooooooooo!
I tried to log in using my Hotmail account, but in vain. The nym wasn’t @cryotosensei.
I then tried to log in using my Google account, but still didn’t see @cryotosensei.
I subsequently tried to log in via X. I was very confident that my X handle was @senseigetcrypto, but X kept telling me that my handle was wrong!
My description seems short, but all this took me one hour. I didn’t panic but I was very well aware that:
- if I couldn’t log back in forever, I would have to get another new nym
- I would have to say goodbye to a few thousand sats
- but who cares about the sats? I’m only 120 days away from holding on to my cowboy hat for a year! If I make it to one year, I might even get a physical cowboy hat! I will have to forgo that!
- even if I were to get a new nym, I would feel that the second account would feel like a re-establishment of the brand identity I have cultivated on SN. I would need to keep explaining that I unwisely closed the SN tab while trying to clear my cache.
Finally I googled X.com and @senseigetcrypto. I finally figured out my misstep. I had used a ZBD account (instead of Hotmail and Google) for my X profile. Thankfully I pasted my ZBD email address on my X profile because I have since deleted the ZBD app. I used that to log in onto SN.
Success!
I managed to get my @cryotosensei account back! No need to start from scratch!
I’m not sure if my above account is coherent enough, but it’s already 11pm and I need to wake up at 5am tomorrow. But before I go off, I wanna thank @sox, @optimism and @billytheked for taking an interest in my predicament and solving my problem. That’s how I knew to unmute all territories and post a musing under my name!
