How is this a “false flag”? Seems more straightforward that USA wants their oil and to remove a communist who was strengthening ties with China and Russia in close proximity to the states.
Whether it’s warranted or not is another question but false flag would suggest some sort of deception at play when the reality seems pretty open regarding strategic importance
