First of all I wasnt scammed but I could have beenFirst of all I wasnt scammed but I could have been

Remember I was banging on about security this and that with my new laptop

So i was Mr smart right

I went to the mobile phone hut in the city because I had a query on my account that i couldn't resolve in appI went to the mobile phone hut in the city because I had a query on my account that i couldn't resolve in app

And this is a branded store not an affiliate, the actual provider

So i go in explain my shit to the dude wearing the company uniform

And he goes: whats your number, i give it, what's yiur address, i give it
He says, sending you a text, tell me the 4 digits, i give it

So we sorted the shit out and i went on my merry way

It was only after that i notice the text said DO NOT GIVE THIS CODE OUT IT WILL BE FRAUD

And i was like wtfAnd i was like wtf

So I started going rabbit holes in my mind, was it a fake uniform, was the guy a stooge

And what annoyed me the most was how i was preaching on here about staying private, and i just readily gave up my information without even thinking

And thats how these confidence tricks work in today's culture, hopefully the guy in the store isnt rinsing my account

This bypasses your filter to sense danger and before you know it, your telling them your grandmother's middle name

I may or may not have been scammed

But i gave up my information far too readily

Was he trying to log in to an account on your behalf? That may be a legitimate reason for him to ask for the code.

In any case I'd set up two factor authentication with something other than SMS for the account that you have the guy access too. Hopefully it was just nothing but you can never be too careful
