If you have a minute, SN, take a look at this recent dumb fuckery out of India's Supreme Court. It's a clear demonstration of how stupid people (don't) think:

The Supreme Court on Friday, reasoned that people with nothing to hide need not be bothered about or afraid of surveillance, even as the State of Telangana batted for citizens’ right to privacy, emphasizing that even the President of India cannot direct anyone to be put under illegal snooping.

The following magnificently intelligent opinions are gifted to us courtesy of one Justice B.V. Nagarathna:

“Now we live in an open world. Nobody is in a closed world. Nobody should be really bothered about surveillance. Why should anyone be bothered about surveillance unless they have something to hide?” Justice Nagarathna questioned.
“Why should anyone be scared of surveillance? If you have nothing to hide, why should you be afraid?” Justice Nagarathna queried.

👆 The smiling face of a lady who does not care about herself, her neighbors, her kids... if she has any? I notice many of those hardest at work condemning their societies to totalitarian surveillance hellscapes have no stake beyond the present generation.

But anyway—

I am not Indian, so this one doesn't affect me directly except insofar as the contagion of stupid is bound to reach my shores eventually. And as I said in the header, it's not a question of having "nothing to hide," but of having nothing to share.
