In a society driven by debt, it is pretty normal for every year to be a record amount.
The only question is how long that can last...
They are escalating the war to finish the debt spiral and introduce a kind of a reset sooner than we think. Maybe in 2-3 years time frame? They need to 'sell' the new Fiat to the masses
