But they still must pay the merchant payment card network fee (or, more accurately, before your payment reaches the landlord, it will have the merchant payment card network fee deducted, which could be several percent depending on what method they use.

Not sure.. it's a big downtown apartment complex part of multiple managed buildings so they might have some sort of deal with payment processors. Flat fee always made more sense over % fee although I guess risk goes up with bigger transactions.
Not unlike IRS website where I'm able to make federal tax payments with I believe a $4.95 debit card fee and get a decent amount of sats back from there as well.
