Will watch later but I think this project was a money laundering scheme

reply

The Line will be an interesting case study in either: 1) bad organizational decision-making, or 2) corruption.

If it was a sincere project, I seriously question where, anywhere in the decision-making process, did anyone question the feasibility and how that was handled.

The other possibility is it was a corrupt money laundering scheme to begin with, and no one had any sincere intentions of actually achieving its stated vision.

Check out the video, it'll clear up some of your questions.

You mean the part about people fearing to speak up? I wonder more about the executives at the development company chosen to spearhead the project. They must have known it was impossible from the start--why didn't they tell the Saudi prince?

I reckon it’s hard as hell, but not impossible. I doubt the whole thing will ever get built—probably just bits and pieces. It all comes down to the money at the end of the day. Love the cypherpunk inspo, though!

yeh can't deny the images look cool

and i suppose, as a developer, you're not gonna turn down the client's money, especially when their attitude is, "don't tell me it's impossible, take my money and do it"
