I reckon those that choose to build via AI are going to run into problems later. Building is easier than maintaining, I think. Your vibe-coded app may look like it'll solve your problems now, compared to buying from a professional software vendor, but maintaining it and keeping it up to date with your needs may prove to be a major headache.

Yes, this makes me think of ERP software. Each of the things it does is trivial, and most job shops think they can do those things themselves; the real product you're paying for is a team of people who have communicated with shops and have made the thing cohesive.

Enterprise Resource Planning. Essentially, it incorporates multiple software functions into one platform with shared databases to produce leveraged information across organizational disciplines. Like my buzzy word explanation? lol.

AI is great and all, but do you really want to go to work at a place where everything inside was vibe-coded?
What I'm seeing with AI is it's giving people all kinds of unearned confidence. Ok, it can write a nice sounding answer for you but when it's confidently wrong and you trust it, it should be your ass on the line. Over the next couple years were going to see some spectacular failures that remind everyone of the value of a high quality human brain.
