What is your opinion of the following? Let me know in the comments!
I want to understand and categorise Bitcoin into levels, where each level is a follow-up and an abstraction of the prior level. Each level is dependent on the prior level, and is a consequence of the prior levels.
They are as follows.
Level 0: Non-negotiable techno-architectural foundations (immutable by definition)
- e.g. proof-of-work consensus mechanism, distributed consensus without central authority...
Level 1: Necessary consequences (flow inevitably; altering them requires changing Level 0 foundations)
- e.g. censorship-resistance, immutability, decentralisation, permissionless...
Level 3: Functional emergents (depend on how the system operates in practice, not on protocol design)
- e.g. inflation-hedge, store of value,
Level 4: Cultural-political interpretations (not properties of Bitcoin itself, but interpretations projected onto it)
- e.g. freedom technology, digital gold,
Level 5: Ideological interpretations (broader political, economic, or philosophical systems)
- e.g. digital metallism, crypto-anarchism, crypto-authoritarianism, crypto-mercantilism
