Will be closing out this year on Issue #40 of Stacker News Zine (hooray, hoorayy) 1.
Since the first one flew out of the stacker news HQ #920037, I've done my best to make SNZ look like something.
But the content, that's all you - and I want to represent you well. So am I missing anything that you do well?
RIght now, SNZ includes:
  • Top Boost of the week
  • Top Posts of the week (and of those, whatsoever can fit within 8 pages)
  • Meme Monday
  • SNZ #Classifieds
  • Comments occasionally
  • a topical theme (sometimes)
  • Territory highlights (don't do these all the time, and I'm willing to expand it into something more)
I tried a Games section a couple times, but idk, idk, it wasn't it
I would include ideas that have longevity on the site, that feel important to SN's identity. That's the main focus. Any suggestions?

Footnotes

  1. It was revealed live on the air (on stacker news live) that the proper number closing out the year is #39, but I am not satisfied with that. I will not take the incompleteness. After all we did confirm that 39 is not prime, so that helps. Still, I will not see the day that 39 completes a batch. So to remedy: I will run a special super small zine, call it #39, and let #40 belong to the big kahuna - the zine of all zines - the finale (of the year)
oh wow, it was worth going back to the comments made on the Inaugural issue - I found the very answer to my own question!
@cryotosensei told me this: #920212
I would love if we could have a Letters to Editor column. Like the first few pages of a Reader’s Digest copy. People write in to expound on their thoughts on a particular article
Takers on this? Who would communicate with me via email to add comments on their post?
reply
Letters to the editor would be cool. I wonder if it would work better as email or just posting the letter straight to SN?
reply
okay right, actually I could go to the comments on each top post that will go in the zine, and ask a question to the writer. maybe?
reply
So honoured to be taken seriously! 😀
I doubt that you’ll get many responses if you tap on email. That will involve something new - and it usually takes a while before people adjusts to a new change. But I see that you are banking on #40 for a FINALE, so realistically the runway is short.
I have similar thoughts as @Undisciplined. Why not tap on the Saloon, an existing outlet? Make it non-onerous for you to comment individual comments on all the posts that make it to the zine.
I might be getting teacher-ish on this, so bear with me. As a spark to stimulate conversation, why not use sentence starters in your saloon call-to-action. Something like I used to think…Now, I think (opinions held before and after reading a particular post on the zine). I think it would be interesting to see varied responses from Stackers as we resonate with the same article in different ways.
N congratulations on a year’s worth of creative conceptualisation and fruition!

That would be pretty cool. Like a mini interview (1 or 2 questions)
Yeah come to think of it, mini interviews would be a nice feature for the zine. Doesn't even have to be a top poster or commenter for the week. Could even make it zine exclusive

interviews with stackers, like a stacker spotlight, even if its a 5 question interview just make it fun, also all the zines i saw growing up turned you onto new brands and music so maybe a section that talk about some cool product or music doesn't necessarily need to be bitcoin

I was just thinking this. This would be very cool.
Or maybe letter to the developer! Haha we can ask k00b questions and get more insights on his ultimate goal with SN. Maybe one or two questions that he can answer

k00b wen crossposting

Maybe a taste of the saloon, when there's something fun to pull out of there
