How the hell does anyone type that bitcoin ascii symbol, anyway?
And the dunking on LNURL really discredits this post. A group of bitcoiners willfully rejected something that found market fit because they’re not fans, and then promoting the same thing but worse.
There’s much of the “gist of the idea” to agree with here, but it’s still impractical.
The BIP goes to great lengths to ensure you never need to type it! Wallets should automatically detect it either with or without the bitcoin symbol and should generally have a fixed UI element there that makes it clear to a payer they don't need to type it. See the bitcoin design guide page for more.

Using BIP 353 does not require you to type the Bitcoin symbol.
However, on my phone, I have set up an autocorrect rule, when I type “BTCSYM”, it replaces it with the Bitcoin character. On my computers, I input the unicode: U+20bf.
On Linux, you enter unicode symbols by hitting Ctrl+Shift+U and typing the code, there are probably similar ways to do so on other operating systems.
