The US coffee situation is pretty grim all over.

Here in Austin an espresso is $4. Seattle is more like the LA price.

But I can get an espresso for 1.5 euro in lots of places in Europe...and it will taste better.

I haven't seen too many of these in LA. Maybe because part of what people are paying for when they buy coffee is a place to hang out. Also maybe insurance and permitting issues are too onerous?
