Bitcoin is cool and all. But the #1 thing we can all do to stop CBDCs is pay cash. Getting cash usage down significantly has to be done first in democratic countries. It's just too disruptive otherwise.

As much as I gag while reading about how the ECB is “serving their constituents” by “offering” different payment methods.(illusion of choice) it is very important that we continue to keep using physical cash.

Physical cash provides excellent privacy from the prying eyes of banks, credit card companies, and governments.

Your payment history can paint a nearly immaculate picture of who you are as a person. Stop giving it away for free. Use Bitcoin and cash whenever available.🤙

Here's a Tweet that kicked off a short Twitter thread that shared a nice chart:

Cash continues to be the most used payment method in the euro area. However, it has declined quite a bit, according to a survey by the @ecb.

But: 55% of euro area consumers prefer paying with card or other cashless means of payment.

This is interesting stat. I wonder though who were the respondents. EU is a huge area with big differences of habits in the different countries. Ex: nordics - the % of cash payments will probably be in single digits. Maybe, the further south/east you go, the more cash being used?
