I never trust government stats, but this morning's payroll numbers are confusing. They make no sense, they contradict ADP, and they make it difficult for Powell to pivot. The powers that be in the US want a pause. That's why they redefined the rules on CPI again.
Never underestimate government incompetence.

I didn't choose my words carefully. This year they are calculing the increase based on last year's rate, when previously they used the prior two years. Hence, they benefit from last year's high rate.
