Anyone know what happens to the posts in a territory that isn't renewed by its owner? Where do they go?

If I remember my Catholic school training, you can escape purgatory, so I guess you're right.

The territory becomes archived. The posts are still visible and searchable, but people can no longer post in the territory.

So the posts can't be found without search or knowing the URL? IE they don't go to some orphan territory?

The territory still exists, it's just archived. You can actually still access archived territories by entering it directly into the URL, i.e. https://stacker.news/~news
