much better than tailscale. Tailscale is just a private VPN, but with wireguard you can go public and have the same and better security and privacy.

If you do not run services that you want them public, on that node, you don't need wireguard, tailscale is enough. But if you run a lnbits, btcpay or something like that you want to be accessed publicly, then wireguard is much better.
