I don't think many bitcoiners and many people realize how much the actors in the state hate us. They hate our ideals, and what we stand for. It can be easy to live in comfort in the US but when you stick your neck out they will not hesitant to take as hard of a shot as they can.
Keonne describes the hostility he faced from what is supposed to be in impartial judge. It reminded me of the judge in the Ross Ulbricht case. Both men's ideas of liberty and freedom were considered a threat.
On SN we have plenty of diversity of thought along the spectrum of the relationship between the individual and the state. From people that do not believe or trust the state like myself to those that think it just needs to be reformed and populated by better people.
I hope all of us can acknowledge that ideas and personal beliefs should not be on trial in the US legal system. I hope we can all also realize that the US legal system is not your friend. It tramples on people every day. I have no doubt that if I were a threat to this system in any significant way there would be no hesitation to throw me in a dark place for a long time.
Friends, this is not a free country. There are worse places but it is not the country the founders envisioned. Recognition of this is hard but many seem to have their heads in the sand. What to do is a different topic but acknowledge the reality.
