Bread takes centre stage in this restaurant called Bakery Restaurant. Not only do they provide a wide array of bread for adults, but it also boasts a dome-shaped little nook filled with appetising bread for toddlers and children. Customers can eat as much bread as they want to, btw. And nope, I don’t know how they make a profit.
As to how books play a supporting role in this restaurant, it has thoughtfully assembled books related to bread in English and Japanese alike. Customers can choose a book to bury their heads in while dining at this restaurant. My aspiring reader did choose a book to read by himself.
I think that’s what we need more of in society. Businesses finding subtle, clever ways to encourage reading in their respective corners. Relying less on gamification that necessitates young developing minds to use smartphones and iPads

I like the pastry artwork. Excellent idea.
I'm a sucker for a good bakery. Always fun to see great examples.

That’s what I thought!
How often do you eat bread, and do you bake your own?
People in Osaka eat bread every day - which may explain why this restaurant can survive in this bleak economic climate

Looks yummy. Is it in Tokyo?
I left already, by the way. Had a great time, would love to visit again.

It’s in Osaka. A shopping mall called Nishinomiya Gardens
We outsiders often stereotype Japan as homogeneous but there is a great deal of variation and diversity between the prefectures. Hope you get to explore other places next time!
