  • K-9 Killed: A police K-9, identified as Spike, was deployed during a coordinated search and located the suspect. The suspect opened fire, striking K-9 Spike multiple times. Spike was rushed to an emergency veterinarian but succumbed to his injuries.
  • Freeway Closure: All northbound lanes of the 5 Freeway were shut down for several hours near the Buena Vista Street exit due to the extensive police investigation and manhunt.
  • Standoff and Suspect Killed: After a prolonged search, the armed suspect was located in thick terrain adjacent to the freeway.
