This book is about how the growth of an acorn into an oak tree transformed a dreary city into a vibrant one.
Given that my friend named her bespoke business @theoakplanters, I was intrigued enough to google the difference between an oak tree and a bamboo plant. So, bamboo shoots up fast and can attain its full growth within a year. On the other hand, an oak tree can take up to 200 hundred years to grow fully. Fascinating.
In the course of this research, I got to know a Japanese proverb: The bamboo that bends is stronger than the oak that resists. So, in Science terms, the oak is the embodiment of strength whereas the bamboo is the symbol of flexibility.
The book itself didn’t do much for my son. Nonetheless, it boosts various opportunities for me to discuss Science concepts. Take for instance
  • mist (water droplets)
  • moss (non-flowering plant)
  • see-through (transparent)
  • seed (germination) So, this book is a great vessel from which Science terms can be imparted.
