Trump is hoping to seize back Venezuela to prevent China from adding its vast oil reserves to its already captive subsidiaries, Russia and Iran. There is no such thing as free markets in many things the nation state and its use of force over rides free markets and the USA has been the predominant user of military force to support its wealth and prosperity since WW2 at least.
