yeah, there is really no such thing as partial spends of Bitcoin UTXOs, spending is all-or-nothing; the gold nugget metaphor is quite effective... each tx melts down all the inputs, mixes any taints according to however their quasecurity covenants interpret the crucible, and then pours the outgoing weights into new molds.
