Created this listening compre exercise in which two students are to interview each other to determine the words to be filled in the blanks. At the same time, I got to flex my experiences in Japan.
Person A Interviewer: Good morning, Mr Heng. Thank you for ______________________ to be interviewed. I understand that you enjoyed your time very much in Japan. What is the main factor why you enjoyed teaching in Japan?
Mr Heng: I spent two years working in Japan. The Japanese students were enthusiastic about learning. I also had the time of my life visiting all the famous attractions. However, the best thing was that I joined a yosakoi dance club. It was a special activity in which I learnt about traditional Japanese dance moves.
Interviewer: Wow, it must be fun travelling all around Japan. Which is your ______________________ place?
Mr Heng: Yes, I was lucky to have so many opportunities to travel. I definitely loved travelling in Kumamoto, which was the place that I was stationed at. The people were extremely friendly. I also really liked Tokyo as it was a modern city with amazing attractions. Instead of Kumamoto and Tokyo, I loved Okinawa the most. It boasted magnificent natural scenery. The local delicacies were delicious. Most of all, the people lived a slow-paced way of life, which suited my free-spirited personality.
Interviewer: I want to visit Okinawa some day too! Now, tell us. What were the ______________________ you faced while teaching in Japan?
Mr Heng: Teaching in Japan was difficult. I did not speak Japanese well. Neither did I understand the local customs. But I persevered because I told myself that I really wanted to live overseas. So, I studied Japanese every day. Slowly but surely, I improved. Eventually, I could speak Japanese pretty well. It was rewarding. I made lots of friends.
Interviewer: Thank you, Mr Heng. Before I end the interview, can I give you a ______________________ as a token of ______________________ for your time?
