Hey SN,
I've been building a health and fitness app using bitcoin and nostr. Workouts and exercises are stored locally on the device unless a user publishes a workout summary to nostr. We dont use a central database like supabase and whatnot.
Features
  • Activity Tracker
We have a built in cardio tracker which allows people to record runs/walks/cycles similar to strava or nike run club. We also support strength training/Welness practices/Diet tracking. In our stats screen we give users the ability to plug in an anonymous PPQ.AI api key which gives users the ability to receive tips/weekly summaries/trends from their local data.
In the stats section we also have a fitness test and give users the ability to download workout records from nostr relays (In case they switch phones or something we can use nostr as a "Decentralized" cloud storage option for basic non incriminating fitness info. We also have an integration with apple healthkit which allows the app to retrieve workouts from other apps on your phone to store them locally on your device.
  • Competitions
Right now we're just supporting running events (5k/10k/Half Marathon/Marathon. To create or participate in a event join or create a team, in settings you can choose which team you would like to compete in. Instead of giving rewards to users RUNSTR will be donating 100k sats a month to charity and the top winners of the month will be able to select which charities they want their portion of the 100 to go to (We will begin the charity process on January 1st 2026 but for now users can rep which charity they allign with in the app right now we only support HRF/Opensats but more will be added before January.
Custom events and P2P challenges are on the roadmap. Over time I'll attempt to position RUNSTR as a fitness event management tool for virtual/meatspace racing events. This would allow race organizers to forget the raceday bib and tracking stuff
  • Lastly
In a nutshell, this is a more privacy preserving app than its legacy counterparts which place user data into honey pots and local first design with no user accounts and optional social posting of workout/excercise summaries is the path we are taking. Not the most private app in the world, but the project has a decent focus and approach to this stuff I think.
The app is a health and fitness app for nostritches and bitcoiners which will help track, record, and analyze fitness data, while allowing users to participate in fitness events for charity. I've been working on the project for about almost a year now, its available on Github, Zap store and the App Store in Alpha.
Its still rough around the edges, but i've made a decent amount of progress and thought it would be best to share and get some advice/opinions/feedback.
Thanks, Hustle
