Seen a lot of talk online about quantum computer's hacking Bitcoin.

Probably the most notable was this tweet from WillyWoo

The basic housekeeping seems to be that holding Bitcoin on a bc1q address is currently safe.

So I was thinking that if I have 0.1btc in a bc1q address and I buy something for 0.06btc

The 'change' (0.04btc) will be sent back to a new bc1q address (fees not included)

That 'change' becomes safe because it's in a new bc1q address

And the sent address becomes compromised theoretically, but it's now empty and will never be reused.

In reality where are quantum computers in relation to breaking a Bitcoin private key? I'm assuming it would need milions of qubits, have any laboratories successfully reached that level?

I saw this tweet from Smok'n Vader which put their perspective on the whole QC's

So I'm guessing for the time being we're good, and technically this is a slow moving disaster, which gives Bitcoin maintainers time to develop a solution.
