A couple of days ago, while talking to a friend who lives in Italy and is interested in learning about Bitcoin, I mentioned that Pixel phones were a good option for Bitcoiners.
I immediately sent him the DarthCoin guide on which phones a Bitcoiner should use.
I also mentioned the uselessness of iPhones and the privacy issues that come with having an operating system like iOS. Aside from causing problems with the use of some applications, it is a closed operating system that is completely controlled by Apple.
In the middle of the conversation, he said the following to me.
“Yes, I have an old Pixel phone that I haven't used in a long time, mainly because the police have the right to search your phone if you have one of these.”
This left me totally surprised and shocked.
I know that in these countries the government is more intrusive than in other parts of the world, such as here in South America. Unless you have problems with the law, there's no way they can search your phone arbitrarily.
I immediately thought that maybe someone here in the community might know something about this, or that someone in the community might live in that country.
Do you know anything about this? Have you seen it? Or has it happened to you directly?
Is this true, can a police officer simply search your phone, just for having one of those? Or does it work with any phone?
Thank you 🤝🤠

That’s not true. In Italy, the police can’t search your phone just because you have a Pixel, or any other type of phone, to be honest. They can do so only with a court order, or if you’re caught in the act of committing a crime. There is no law or custom that zeroes in on Pixel phones, but privacy-heavier devices are definitely overrepresented. Your friend has probably misheard, or heard some gossip. It is totally common to own a Pixel in Italy, and there’s nothing illegal about it. I hope this helped you haha
