5$/lb translates as 10$ / kilo. for low-quality towards average beef this is the price in my country. Depending on the cut or purchase place it goes higher. We have Angus or Wagyu at costs starting from 20$-25$ a one person cut, in stores.
Beef is really good and easy to eat if cooked well. I am a carnivore but I always alternate meats because I have really great and antibiotics free sources. I suggest you do the same.
Anyways, there is expected to have a small price surge due to low number of cattle, which will further apply to all beef related products (protein powders including).
Try to watch multiple stores and take advantage of offers if possible, if you rely mostly on beef.
