For this month's data sciencey stuff, I'll simply point to my previous post on the Stacker News Knowledge Graph, in case anyone missed it! It's a visualization of the largest interconnected web of Stacker News posts connected via internal links, and it looks like this:
You can also explore an interactive version here: https://www.ekung.io/sn-graph-explorer/.
One thing I didn't talk about in the previous post was the smaller interconnected webs of posts on Stacker News that aren't connected to the largest component. If we plot them out, they also make a pretty chart:
Pretty fun, huh? Data actually makes for pretty good artwork.
Anyway, hope you enjoyed this edition of Stacker News Monthly! Remember, stay humble and stack sats.
QUITE literally "my two sats." Love it
Great work! I often wonder what will happen to SN if we get crazy amounts of growth
I would probably have to stop making these posts if it takes too many resources to download and process the data haha
Awesome work.
My two takeaways. This @grayruby fellow needs to get a life and we will never escape the abs takeover.
The tyranny of abs must be broken
Seems unlikely until 2026.
I’m curious how you figure out the stackers’ favorite word. Does the method look at quotes?
It just parses through all your posts and comments for the month and counts the words.
It removes common words such as
I, they, who, there, isetc etcAh, that explains it, looks like you’re not excluding it when I quote parts of the articles I share. Those aren’t actually my own words!
Oh, haha! Good point.
I could probably do something to remove quoted sections. Next time!
Impressive
cool!!!
I can certainly agree!
